Nelson Riddle / Dick & Dee Dee - Route 66 Theme / The Mountain's High

Description
American Pie’s LS-57044 brings two distinct pop moments together: Nelson Riddle’s “Route 66 Theme” and Dick & Dee Dee’s “The Mountain’s High.” Riddle was a composer and arranger, and his theme connects the single to the long tradition of music made for the screen, where a concise melody can set a scene in motion. Dick & Dee Dee’s title adds a separate thread of pop storytelling, with a song title that suggests a mountain but leaves its meaning to the listener. That meeting of screen music and pop song gives this United States pressing its character: two named works, each rooted in a different way of carrying a tune.
