Pat Mercer - Thunderbolt / You're The One I Love

Description
“Thunderbolt” paired with “You're The One I Love” gives Pat Mercer’s 1978 Venture single a lively place in the meeting of funk, soul and disco. Disco grew from the long social tradition of dance music: a groove could be both a shared pulse and an invitation to move, with soul’s expressive vocabulary meeting funk’s rhythmic drive. Mercer’s two titles sit together under the Venture name on 7-inch release V-1001, a compact format made for taking a song straight to its audience. The pairing also catches the era’s knack for placing a punchy title beside a direct declaration of affection. Funk and soul’s dance-floor language remains built around connection.
