Patti Page - Allegheny Moon / The Strangest Romance

Description
“Allegheny Moon” and “The Strangest Romance” make a tender pairing on this 1956 seven-inch single: one title opens toward a wide, imagined landscape, the other toward an intimate affair. Patti Page brings the poise of a pop vocalist to both sides, where the enduring appeal lies in the directness of a song carried by a clear, expressive voice. That kind of storytelling has long been at the heart of popular song, turning a brief melody into a small world listeners can enter. Issued in the USA by Mercury as 70878X45, the single preserves two distinctly named songs from a moment when vocal pop made romance feel close at hand.
