Percy Sledge - You're All Around Me / Self Preservation

Description
“You’re All Around Me” and “Self Preservation” bring Percy Sledge into the close, expressive world of soul, where a voice can carry tenderness and resolve in the same breath. The seven-inch single pairs these two titles on Atlantic, catalog number 45-2563, with a Barbados pressing. Sledge is known as a soul singer, and that tradition gives this pairing its human scale: songs shaped around feeling, direct words and the presence of a voice at the center. There is a lovely tension in the titles alone, one reaching toward someone, the other holding something back. Together, they make a compact portrait of soul’s emotional candor.
