Pointer Sisters - American Music / I Want To Do It With You

Description
Released in 1982, this Pointer Sisters single brings “American Music” and “I Want To Do It With You” together at the meeting point of disco, soul and synth-pop. The titles hint at two different ways into the era’s pop landscape, where electronic colors could sit comfortably beside a dance groove and soul’s expressive warmth. That blend gives the record a place in the lively exchange between club music and radio-friendly pop, without leaving its roots in rhythm and vocal expression behind. Issued by Planet Records as YB-13284, it captures a moment when synths were becoming part of the everyday language of popular dance music.
