Ramsey Lewis Trio - The "In" Crowd / Since I Fell For You

Description
Argo’s 5506 single brings the Ramsey Lewis Trio into the close, conversational world of soul-jazz, where jazz improvisation meets the direct pull of rhythm and blues. “The "In" Crowd” gives the release its name, while “Since I Fell For You” offers a second title rooted in the enduring language of popular song. The trio’s jazz setting makes a natural home for that meeting of spontaneity and familiar melody: a tune can be recognized, then opened up through the give-and-take of a small ensemble. This USA pressing connects two sides of the same tradition, balancing a memorable songbook with jazz’s freedom to reshape it.
