In 1979, Ray, Goodman, & Brown brought “Deja Vu” and “Special Lady” together on a Polydor single, catalog number PD 2033. The pairing belongs to a soulful disco moment when dance-floor rhythms and close, expressive vocal harmony could meet without losing their warmth. Disco often gets remembered for its pulse, but soul gave the tradition much of its human touch: voices in conversation, shaped by feeling as much as groove. Here, the titles sit side by side as two concise invitations into that world, with the group’s name at the center. The record’s appeal lies in that lasting meeting of soul and dance music.
