Ray Parker Jr. - The Other Woman / Stay The Night

Description
“The Other Woman” and “Stay The Night” bring two titles together on Ray Parker Jr.’s 1982 Arista single, AS 0669. In the early eighties, pop was finding fresh ways to fold electronic textures into concise, song-first writing, and this release sits comfortably in that synth-pop moment. Parker is a guitarist, a craft rooted in the feel of a played line even as electronic pop reshaped the sounds around it. The pairing makes room for that meeting of musical worlds: familiar pop songcraft alongside the streamlined language of synth-pop. It’s a small, revealing piece of how guitar-led musicians could meet the electronic turn without leaving the song at the center.
