Reuben Howell - Constant Disappointment / I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)

Description
Soul can make a confession feel like a conversation, and Reuben Howell brings that directness to this 1971 Motown single. “Constant Disappointment” sets one side of the story, while “I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)” turns toward the hope tucked inside heartbreak. Howell is a soul singer, and the songs’ contrasting titles sit naturally within a tradition that gives love’s doubts and promises equal weight. Motown’s M 1325F places the release in a label culture closely associated with soul, where concise songs could carry big feelings. The record’s lasting appeal begins with that familiar, human tension: disappointment beside belief.
