Richard Harris - The Yard Went On Forever / Mac Arthur Park

Description
Richard Harris brings a distinctive presence to two titles that invite a little time and attention. On side A, “The Yard Went On Forever” sets the scene; turn the record over for “Mac Arthur Park,” a title with a place in pop’s long tradition of songs built around vivid, memorable names. Harris was an actor as well as a singer, and that crossing of disciplines gives this 1973 vocal single a compelling point of entry: here is a performer whose work reaches beyond one artistic form. Issued as Goldies 45 D-1434, it joins two songs under one artist’s name, with each side offering its own doorway into the record.
