Roger - I Want To Be Your Man / I Really Want To Be Your Man

Description
Roger pairs “I Want To Be Your Man” with “I Really Want To Be Your Man,” giving this 1987 single a neatly matched pair of titles rooted in the directness of soul songwriting. In funk and soul, a repeated declaration can become more than a line: it gives the music a clear emotional center, ready to be shaped through rhythm and performance. These two songs keep that wish in view from different angles, while the record’s concise single format leaves the focus on the songs themselves. Issued by Reprise Records as 7-28229, this United States pressing belongs to a tradition where a plainspoken promise can carry plenty of feeling.
