Rose Royce - Sunrise / I Wanna Get Next To You

Description
Rose Royce’s 1976 single pairs “Sunrise” with “I Wanna Get Next To You,” bringing two memorable titles together on one release. The group’s name is closely associated with soul, funk and disco, styles that let rhythm carry both the dancefloor and the tender side of a song. Here, the contrast between the two titles gives the record its own little story, without needing anything more than the names to invite curiosity. Issued by Mca Records as MCA-40662, this USA pressing belongs to a moment when soul-inflected disco was finding room for warmth as well as movement. Rose Royce makes that musical crossroads the heart of the release.
