Russ Conway - C. C. / Lesson One

Description
A little easy-listening charm goes a long way. Russ Conway, the British pianist, brings a light touch to this jazz 7-inch, where the titles “C. C.” and “Lesson One” invite a brief escape into the polished, tuneful side of the tradition. Easy listening has always made room for jazz’s melodic pleasures without demanding a late-night club atmosphere; its appeal lies in clear themes and an unhurried sense of ease. This Dutch pressing pairs those two pieces on Columbia, catalog number 45 DB 4784. Conway’s piano-centered identity gives the record its natural point of connection: jazz made welcoming, direct, and ready to brighten an ordinary moment.
