Ruth Wallis And Orchestra / Ruth Wallis - Gimme (What You Promised Me) / (It's Been) A Long Long Time

Description
Comedy and novelty songs thrive on a performer’s knack for turning familiar feelings into playful encounters, and Ruth Wallis brings that spirit to both sides here. With Ruth Wallis And Orchestra, “Gimme (What You Promised Me)” sets up one exchange; “(It's Been) A Long Long Time” follows with a separate title and a more patient sense of anticipation. Wallis is a singer, and the pairing gives her room to work in the conversational, theatrical vein that makes novelty pop so inviting: a wink can carry as much weight as a declaration. Issued by Wallis Original Record Corp. as 2002, this United States pressing keeps the focus on Wallis’s comic songcraft.
