Sammi Smith - When Michael Calls / Help Me Make It Through The Night

Description
On Mega, this United States 7-inch single brings Sammi Smith to two songs with very different kinds of longing. “When Michael Calls” sits alongside “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” a title closely associated with country’s gift for making private feeling sound plainspoken and shared. Smith is a country singer, and that tradition gives these songs a natural home: intimate stories, direct words and emotions that don’t need dressing up. The release carries the catalog number 615-0015, but its appeal rests in the contrast between a call awaited and a plea for company. Together, the titles point toward country music’s enduring tenderness for the vulnerable.
