Santana - Evil Ways / Jingo

Description
“Evil Ways” opens a doorway into the Latin rhythms and rock energy that meet in Santana’s music; “Jingo” carries that blend forward, drawing on a long tradition of rhythmic exchange. Santana is a rock band, and these songs place that broad identity alongside Latin musical currents without treating either as a backdrop. Their pairing makes for a concise introduction to the two titles, while leaving room for the rhythms themselves to lead the story. Issued in 1969 on Columbia Hall Of Fame, catalog number 13-33185, this USA pressing connects the record to the moment when Latin-inflected rock was finding a wider place in popular music.
