Sergio Mendes - Never Gonna Let You Go / Carnaval

Description
Sergio Mendes brings two very different moods together on this 1983 single. “Never Gonna Let You Go” sits in polished pop territory, while “Carnaval” points toward the Brazilian rhythms that give Mendes’s music its distinctive sense of motion. His work has long made room for bossa nova and samba alongside contemporary pop, a meeting that lets Brazilian musical traditions travel easily into a wider pop setting without losing their rhythmic heart. The contrast gives this release its character: an intimate romantic title set beside a word that evokes celebration. Issued by A&M Records as AM-2540, it captures that engaging blend in miniature.
