Sergio Mendes - Never Gonna Let You Go / Carnaval

Description
“Never Gonna Let You Go” brings Sergio Mendes into the polished pop world of 1983, while “Carnaval” turns toward the Brazilian rhythms that make his music such a distinctive meeting place. Mendes is a Brazilian pianist and bandleader, and the contrast between these titles hints at the breadth of a musical language shaped by bossa nova, samba and pop. Those traditions carry a particular warmth: graceful melodies, an easy rhythmic sway and a sense of movement that invites pop to loosen its tie. Issued by A&M Records as AM-2540, this single joins two sides of Mendes’s musical identity without asking either to stand still.
