Skeeter Davis - I'm A Lover (Not A Fighter) / I Didn't Cry Today

Description
Country songs often turn on the tension between a brave front and a tender heart, and these two titles place that contrast right in view. Skeeter Davis is the artist here, with “I'm A Lover (Not A Fighter)” on one side and “I Didn't Cry Today” on the other. The first title offers a wry declaration; the second holds close to the familiar country-song impulse to measure feeling through what a person does—or refuses—to show. Released by Rca Victor as 74-0292, this United States 7-inch single brings those two sharply drawn perspectives together. Its small, telling contrast belongs to country’s enduring art of making emotion plain without making it simple.
