Smokey Robinson - Get Ready / Get Ready

Description
“Get Ready” meets “Get Ready” here: the same song is named on both sides of this 1979 seven-inch, a neat invitation to spend a little longer with its buoyant blend of soul and disco. Smokey Robinson is a singer and songwriter, and that combination of roles sits naturally in a tradition where a compelling voice and a memorable song carry the whole conversation. Tamla’s T 54301F brings this release into the world of late-seventies dance music, when soul’s expressive vocal style and disco’s steady pulse could meet in a single, immediate pop statement. The pairing keeps the focus on the song itself.
