Syl Johnson - Love Baby / Goodie Goodie Good Time

Description
E.P.I. Records’ EPI-101 brings Syl Johnson’s soul into close focus, with “Love Baby” backed by “Goodie Goodie Good Time.” Soul has always made room for intimacy and release in the same breath: a tender address can sit beside the pleasure of simply letting a groove carry you along. Johnson’s pairing gives those two moods their own names, inviting a listener to linger over the contrast rather than hurry past it. There’s something lovely in the directness of titles that say exactly where they stand. Here, the record’s character begins with that simple, human exchange between affection and good time.
