The Blue Notes - Blue Star / Pucker Your Lips

Description
“Blue Star” and “Pucker Your Lips” make an inviting pair on this 7-inch single by The Blue Notes, bringing doo-wop’s close-knit vocal tradition into the broader world of rhythm and blues. Doo-wop has always made room for the charm of voices meeting in harmony: a shared phrase can feel both intimate and made for a neighborhood gathering. Here, that tradition sits alongside the record’s Latin and funk/soul associations, giving the pairing a lively cultural context without asking the titles to tell us more than they do. Collectables issued this edition as COL 1016. The appeal of doo-wop endures in the simple pleasure of voices finding their place together.
