The Gap Band - Steppin' (Out) / You Are My High

Description
“Steppin' (Out)” and “You Are My High” make a lively pairing on The Gap Band’s 1979 disco single: one title suggests a night in motion, the other a moment of devotion, with the two songs bringing different sides of the dance floor into view. The Gap Band’s funk and soul roots meet disco’s bright, steady pulse here, a tradition built to turn rhythm into shared movement. Issued on Mercury as catalog number 76021, this United States pressing belongs to the era when disco carried soul’s warmth into clubs and living rooms alike. The pairing captures how a dance record can make room for both exuberance and tenderness.
