The Highwaymen - Cotton Fields / The Gypsy Rover

Description
The Highwaymen bring “Cotton Fields” into the familiar, generous tradition of American folk song, where a plainspoken tune can carry a whole landscape in a few lines. The group’s name suits the music’s sense of movement: these songs travel easily from one voice to another, gathering feeling along the way. On the flip, “The Gypsy Rover” turns toward the wandering-ballad tradition, with its timeless figure of the road calling someone away from home. Issued in the USA by United Artists as UA 370, this 7-inch single places two well-loved folk songs side by side, each rooted in the pleasure of a story passed along.
