The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Hooked On Classics / Hooked On Classics

Description
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra brings classical music into the dancefloor conversation with this 1981 release of “Hooked On Classics.” Disco’s steady pulse meets the grandeur and sweep associated with orchestral music, making a playful case for letting familiar classical traditions move to a different beat. The title appears on both sides, keeping the focus firmly on this meeting of styles. Issued in the USA as a 7-inch single, it came out on Rca with catalog number PB-12304. The orchestra’s presence gives the record a direct link to the concert-hall tradition, while its disco setting reflects a lively urge to make that tradition part of everyday dancing.
