The Shirelles - Soldier Boy / Love Is A Swingin' Thing

Description
The Shirelles bring a tender ballad and a brighter pop turn together on this Scepter Records single, catalog number 1228. “Soldier Boy” carries the heartfelt directness that has long made the ballad such a natural home for stories of love and longing, while “Love Is A Swingin' Thing” sets a contrasting title beside it. The Shirelles’ vocal style sits comfortably in the rich meeting place of pop, rhythm and blues, and soul, where close harmonies and clear melodies let a song’s feeling lead. Together, these songs show two sides of that tradition: devoted sentiment and the lively pull of romance.
