Amour’s 1980 release AMOX-4200 brings The Variations’ “Get On Up” into the bright, communal world of disco, where funk’s deep pulse meets a steady invitation to move. The title returns on both sides, giving the song room to keep its place at the center of this compact single. Disco grew from dance music that made rhythm feel generous and shared: a firm beat, an open groove, and the pleasure of bodies finding the same momentum. Here, that tradition is distilled into one title and one artist, with no need for a crowded track list. “Get On Up” says it plainly: the dance floor begins with motion.
