The Weavers - Bury Me Beneath The Willow / Aunt Rhodie

Description
Folk songs have a way of carrying old stories forward, and The Weavers bring that tradition into focus on this Vanguard single, catalog VRS-35005. “Bury Me Beneath The Willow” belongs to a long-lived stream of American folk ballads, where sorrow and plainspoken storytelling meet in a song passed from voice to voice. “Aunt Rhodie” turns to a familiar traditional tune, the kind whose simple shape invites people to join in and make it their own. Together, the titles trace two sides of folk’s enduring appeal: a song can hold a private ache, or become part of a shared musical inheritance.
