Tom Jones - Memphis, Tennessee / This Time

Description
Tom Jones brings the open-hearted drama of pop balladry to “Memphis, Tennessee” and “This Time,” a pairing that lets direct storytelling and a strong melody share the spotlight. Ballads have always made room for a voice to carry feeling plainly, without needing elaborate explanation, and Jones’s unmistakable name gives these songs a classic pop presence. The contrast between the two titles invites a little lingering: one points toward a place, the other toward a moment, each leaving its own space for the listener. This 1984 USA 7-inch single was issued on Mercury as 818 801-7, a neat meeting of song and voice.
