Typically Tropical - Barbados / Barbados

Description
“Barbados” appears on both sides here, a title that carries the record’s whole invitation in a single word. Typically Tropical’s 1975 seven-inch single brings reggae-pop into the lively tradition of reggae: music shaped by a supple pulse, with room for pop’s directness and an easy sense of movement. Issued on Gull as GU 6004F, this United States pressing places the track in the era when reggae’s rhythmic language was finding fresh routes into popular song. The repeated title gives the release a neat sense of focus, while the meeting of reggae and pop makes its appeal easy to understand: a compact bridge between traditions, built around one memorable name.
