Willie Hutch - Get Ready For The Get Down / Get Ready For The Get Down

Description
“Get Ready For The Get Down” appears on both sides of this 1974 single, a title that captures funk’s invitation to move before a beat has even begun. Willie Hutch, a soul singer and songwriter, brings this Motown release into the rich tradition of music built around groove, rhythmic drive and the shared pleasure of the dance floor. The label and catalog number, Motown M 1339F, place the record in a moment when funk and disco were meeting in the popular imagination, each giving dancers a fresh way to follow the pulse. Hutch’s work here joins that enduring conversation between soul’s expressive voice and the body-moving power of rhythm.
