Zell Black - I Been Had By The Devil / I Been Had By The Devil

Description
The 1972 Motown single pairs Zell Black with the same title on both sides: “I Been Had By The Devil.” That repeated title gives this release a particular focus, while its soul setting links it to a tradition built on expressive voices, rhythmic drive and songs that make room for feeling. The catalog number is M 1290F A, and the pressing is from the United States. Motown’s name brings the single into conversation with a label closely associated with soul, but the details here stay firmly with Black and this one strikingly named song. One title, carried through both sides, makes for a concise statement.
